HALCON Embedded 7.1.4 Documentation for Windows XP Embedded on Sony XCI-SX1 / XCI-V3

Installation Guidelines:
  • Installation from CD
  • To install HALCON 7.1 on the XCI-SX1 / XCI-V3 insert the HALCON 7.1 product CD in a PC which is connected via ethernet to the camera.
  • After booting the XCI-SX1 / XCI-V3, log in as administrator on the camera and select the CD drive of the PC as a network drive. If the CD drive is not visible you must enable the sharing of the drive.
  • Execute the program Setup.exe located in the directory install-windows of the CD.
  • From that point on, follow the instructions in the chapter "Installing HALCON for the First Time" of the HALCON Installation Guide. In most cases the Runtime installation is the appropriate choice for the installation type. You should neither install the dongle driver nor the floating license server.

  • Installation from WWW
  • You can also download the HALCON 7.1 release from the HALCON download area. You must download the version HALCON 7.1 for Windows XP on x86 compatible PCs.
  • The Windows version comes as an executable file that contains both the setup program and the HALCON files. You can save the executable on the CF card and then start the installation by executing it on the camera.
  • From that point on, follow the instructions in the chapter "Installing HALCON for the First Time" of the HALCON Installation Guide. In most cases the Runtime installation is the appropriate choice for the installation type. You should neither install the dongle driver nor the floating license server.

  • HALCON license
  • You need a license to run HALCON on the XCI-SX1 / XCI-V3. The license itself is stored in a file named license.dat and resides in the subdirectory license of the directory where you installed HALCON.
  • You can obtain a HALCON 7.1 license from your local HALCON Embedded distributor. The license is bound to the host ID of the network card of the XCI-SX1 / XCI-V3. To extract the host ID of a network card open a Windows Command Prompt and type "lmhostid -ether".
